PowerPay is in beta — and like anything built by a community, the beta keeps evolving. It moves forward in steps, each one building on the last.
Here's the journey so far -
V2 — Build the foundation. First, the community built the system and the processes to run PowerPay, and began letting people use their GREEN. That made sense, because many members were already part of the community and already had GREEN. The main way to get GREEN is to earn it by taking part — for example, by running nodes like Smart Nodes. (GREEN is a reward for taking part, not an investment.)
V2.5 — The PowerPay App. Next, the community put a real PWA app in people's hands. This step tested the V2 system in the real world, added more automation, and made the process more open and transparent. The app helps run the program and keep its rules fair and consistent.
V3.0 — Open the doors wider (the current focus). Now the work is about growing the community and getting ready for more automation using smart contracts — software that runs automatically by agreed rules. A key change: the plan is to bring in a third-party platform called Elevate for part of the PowerPay process, using stablecoins (digital tokens designed to stay close to the value of the US dollar, like USDT and USDC). Because stablecoins are familiar and common in the crypto world, the goal is to lower the barrier so more people can take part and earn GREEN rewards. (GREEN is a reward for taking part, not an investment.)
If you're part of the beta: this is your build to shape. Your feedback isn't a suggestion box — it's how an owner-run project decides what to do next.
The road ahead
This next step is a shared goal — not a promise. It's still being planned and reviewed, and it can change as we learn. It also involves other companies and tools, and those plans aren't final.
V4.0 — Make it easier to use. Further out, the community wants to improve the everyday experience — looking at simpler ways to pay bills and businesses directly, possibly with other bill-pay partners. This part is still in planning and review. Starting with Elevate first helps lay the groundwork for the automated and crypto-exchange tools this would need.
Long term — Set power free, at scale. A community-run network that aims to be open to as many people as possible, wherever local rules allow.
Requirements
- Your utility provider must support guest/third-party payments and partial payments to qualify for the program.
- Check the PowerPay app for supported providers.
- You must submit the bill copy, guest payment details, and transaction hash no less than 14 days prior to the due date.
- PowerPay remains in beta/pre-launch — features, processing times, and rewards are not guaranteed.
Important Notes
