Virtual Private Servers or VPS are service you pay a monthly fee to run your nodes on a virtual server. Most companies offer 100% uptime of running the nodes. Most users find this as a lower worry option for running nodes. This is also a great option for running multiple nodes. The downside can be that it does cost a monthly fee, Vultr servers are $5 per month for each server needed.

Running a Green Smart Node requires a stable internet connection and enough computing resources to run the software. Rather than having to buy a computer and dedicate it to running a Smart Node, a Smart Node owner can rent a VPS as a computer to use. A good VPS provider can provide up to 100% guaranteed uptime.

How do I run my Smart Node or Lite Node using the Node Software on my device?

Running a node on the installed Node software is a free option offered to run a node. This option allows you to run 1 Node/instance on each device as long as there is a stable internet connect, it is connected to power, and it runs for 6 hours daily. You will not receive rewards for running the node if your device is not on for at least 6 hours. 

*Only 1 instance of 1 to 100 Lite nodes or 1 Smart Node can be run on each device.
