How do I run my Smart Node or Lite Node using the Node Software on my device? – Green

To Run my Smart Node or Lite Nodes on your Device using Node Software:

Reminder: In order to set up your Lite Node or Smart Node, you will need to set up your Wallet to ensure you are receiving rewards. For instructions on how to set up your wallet, click HERE.

Pro Tip: Only 1 instance of nodes can be run on each device. You can run up to 1 Smart Node or 100 Lite Nodes per instance.

- If you have Nodes with multiple brands, you can run 1 instance per brand.

You can also find information and steps on how to install the Node software on your Device by going to the Nodes tab of your Dashboard and locating "Node Setup".

On the right side of the page, there is a box for "Node Setup" and 2 buttons for either MacOS or Linux software download.
Each option will give you instructions to download on your device.

Local Installation Instructions:

Install on MacOS:

To Install Green Node Software Using your Mac Terminal Prompt

1. Locate the Terminal

- Click the magnifying glass in the top right corner of your computer and search Terminal

- Search Terminal in Launchpad

2. Type the following command into Terminal:

cd ~/library/nodes

3. Paste the following command: (be sure there are no spaces at the end)

bash <(curl -s https://download.setpowerfree.com/node-binaries/v2.6.1-b/mac.sh)

4. For username, type the email to your Set Power Free Account, click ENTER

5. For password, type the password to your Set Power Free Account and click ENTER

6. For node name, type something to identify this instance and click ENTER

7. If the setup was successful, you will get the following message: “Green configuration complete!”

8. You can now close the Terminal Prompt

Install on Linux (Ubuntu):

To Install Green Node Software Using your Linux Device

1. Locate and open a Terminal Window.

2. Paste the following commands “{YOUR_USERNAME}” below with the username for your Ubuntu computer, into your Terminal Window.

sudo chown -R "{your_username}:" /usr/local/bin

sudo chown -R "{your_username}:" /etc/systemd/system

3. Copy and paste the command below into your Terminal Window.

bash <(curl -s https://download.setpowerfree.com/node-binaries/v2.6.1-b/linux.sh)

4. You will be prompted to enter your Ubuntu password a few times in a pop-up dialog. If you get an error that the *systemd* service couldn’t restart, run this command below.

sudo systemctl start green

5. You will know the install was successful when you are prompted in the Terminal Window to enter your Set Power Free account email address and password.

6. You did it! The node will run as a background service. You can check your node status any time by entering the command below in your computer’s terminal.

systemctl status green

A background service starts up automatically when your computer starts, stays up to date for you, and reconnects for you if an error is ever encountered.

Please note a computer can run up to 100 Lite Nodes or 1 Smart node. If you have additional nodes you will need to install this software on a separate computer or VPS. For instructions on how to run your nodes on a VPS, click HERE.
